SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey (30 Sept 2025) — Fannillia Lawrence-Caines, representing LaPlaine and Warner, emerged as the undisputed champion of Saturday night’s ADNExUS Bel Matador Contest, claiming not only the coveted Bel Matador 2025 title but also securing victories in Best Talent and Best in Wob categories.

The triple-crown achievement marked Lawrence-Caines as the standout performer of the evening, demonstrating versatility and stage presence that captivated judges and an appreciative audience alike. Her commanding performance across multiple disciplines set a high bar for the prestigious competition whilst bringing pride to her home communities.

Anna Brewster, representing Petite Savanne and Bellevue Choppin, was first runner up, whilst Veda Challenger from the parish of St. Paul rounded out the top three. Challenger distinguished herself by winning the Best Introductory Speech award, showcasing the oratory skills that are a hallmark of the contest’s focus on well-rounded performers.

In the junior category, Zana Dupuis-Lecky, the Portsmouth representative, was crowned Ti Matador 2025, adding another layer of excitement to the evening’s festivities. The dual coronations highlighted the event’s commitment to celebrating talent across age groups and experience levels.

The ADNExUS Bel Matador Contest and Dance Party is a premier platform for showcasing Dominican cultural excellence in the northeastern United States. 

The event also featured excellent performances by Know our Culture and the Colihaut Boyz International Lapo Kabwitt band, as well as the dance party portion with DJ Lolo, which allowed attendees to revel in the evening’s achievements.
